STEM CONFERENCE TO BE HELD IN TOOWOOMBA IN 2019

The “It Takes a Spark” Conference for girls and their teachers will be held in Toowoomba on May 9, 2019.  This is the first time this unique Conference will be held in a regional city and will be hosted by St Saviour's College.

The intent of the Conference is to ignite interest from many schools in STEM, particularly from girls who traditionally are underrepresented in these subject areas. The conference brings together girls to connect with inspiring female industry role models and share their current school-based activities and project and solve social justice design challenges.

This is a conference designed and led by students and teachers for students and teachers.  Teachers will have both formal and informal opportunities to speak with other teachers who have enacted programs and activities in their schools, sparking new ideas about curriculum and pedagogy.

Who should attend?

  • Students – those who are already (or aspire to be) Technology Leaders in your school
  • Teachers – those who have little experience and those who have a lot
  • Heads of Learning Areas / Curriculum – who wish to discuss how to create trans-disciplinary units that are powerfully engaging
  • Principals and Deputy Principals – to witness what is possible by embedding the Technologies Curriculum in your school

We hope to provide the opportunity to all female students in years 4-10 in the region to attend this conference.
