ST JOSEPH’S COLLEGE PROVIDES MORE THAN AN EDUCATION

St Joseph's College Year 12 Student, Quinn Burling

St Joseph’s is a Year 7 to 12 co-educational Catholic College where Catholic principles permeate all aspects of College life. Two of the Year 12 students were asked about their experiences at the College.

Megan Fanning said, “The staff and community from St Joeys gave me more than just an education. The school’s motto, ‘Serve Him in Others’, is truly lived on a day to day basis, and is not just a sign out the front of the school. The opportunities given to me opened my eyes to the challenges and inequalities many people face. I was taught to be grateful and how every person can make a difference. My work with Social Justice during my time at the College has influenced what I want to do next and I am grateful for all I learned, these lessons will stay with me for many years to come.”

Quinn Burling was the College Vice Captain this year and was awarded Dux of the College for 2018. Quinn was also the recipient of five other awards this year including: College Board Trophy for Endeavour, Robert Houghton Memorial Trophy for Study, Leadership and Sport, Senior Sportswoman of the Year, Concert Band Valuable Contribution and Service to Music.

When asked about her outstanding achievements and what she most values about her education at the College, Quinn said, “ St Joseph's College provided me with a supportive and encouraging environment to learn and grow. The College values of respect and compassion created a strong and inclusive community in which I appreciated being a member. The school motto ‘Serve Him in Others’ created a community where social justice was prioritised and engagement with the vulnerable and
marginalised was valued.

I have many happy memories of my time at St Joseph's College and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to be part of a community that celebrates the values of compassion, respect, dignity and endeavour.”
