Blue card system

The Queensland Blue Card System is an important prevention and monitoring system for people working with children and young people. It is a legal requirement under the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024 and the Working with Children Check Act 2000 (formerly the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000), that all people working or volunteering in child-related organisations are assessed for their eligibility to work or volunteer with children based on their police history and disciplinary information.

As part of this system, Diocese of Toowoomba Catholic Schools are required to develop, implement and review procedures for recruiting, training and monitoring all employees and volunteers working with our organisation, including monitoring their eligibility to hold a Blue Card. This is an important element of how we continually work to ensure our schools are safe environments for children and our commitment to this is outlined further in the TCS Safeguarding Plan, found below.
