Toowoomba Catholic Schools (TCS) is a system of 31 primary, secondary, and P-12 schools located in Toowoomba, and across the Darling Downs and South West Queensland.

The Role

The purpose of the role is to work collaboratively, as part of the Education Services Directorate (ES), to support the delivery of the QCAA Specialist Maths Syllabus Units 1 – 4, using the Diocesan Hybrid Learning Model to an initial intake of three schools. This model involves the creation of engaging digital resources for asynchronous learning, the delivery of synchronous online lessons weekly and visits to each school at least twice a term for the delivery of synchronous face-to-face lessons.

Please note, periodic travel to regional schools is a requirement of this role. 

Your Experience

Essential

  • tertiary qualification in Education
  • a minimum of 5 years’ experience in teaching senior secondary mathematics, or 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • experience teaching QCAA Specialist Maths 
  • hold, or be eligible to hold, registration as a teacher in Queensland
  • effective capacity to engage students in their learning through the development of approaches that encourage positive interdependence and student ownership of the learning process
  • capacity to flexibly adapt to a variety of Learning Management Systems and associated technologies
  • advanced interpersonal and communication skills
  • willingness to travel periodically to regional schools for synchronous learning opportunities 
  • empathy with the values and ethos of the Catholic faith

 Desirable 

  • experience as an endorser, confirmer or external examination marker is highly desirable
  • interest and/or experience in the pedagogical practices of numeracy in secondary classrooms
  • experience in designing flipped learning opportunities for students.
  • demonstrated ability to achieve outstanding academic success with students
