We are looking for a School Guidance Counsellor to work collaboratively with four amazing school communities to promote and foster the achievement, participation, development, mental health and wellbeing of all students, through the provision of a counselling service that enables student learning and quality teaching. The main function of this role is to provide counselling support to our students in partnership with the school community. The focus is on prevention, intervention and student learning by introducing proactive and preventive practices to encourage wellbeing and positive outcomes for our students.

The School Guidance Counsellor will work collaboratively with the following school communities to provide a counselling service:

The School Guidance Counsellor will be well supported by a team and will meet with an Education Officer: Guidance Counsellor Coordination and School Support regularly for individual supervision. They will be part of a School Guidance Counsellor Program Development focused on professional practice, service and program development. Additional support is provided to the School Guidance Counsellor as they transition into the role.  There is also Peer Consultation - Peer Supervision Support and Debriefing groups (PSSD) that meet every school term and these groups are comprised of School Guidance Counsellors of varying professional background, but similar work contexts. There is access to Peer Consultation - Case Consultations which can occur regularly throughout the term to discuss any relevant case topics.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology or Guidance Counselling and possess effective relationship building and influencing skills, advanced interpersonal and communication skills, proven and effective leadership skills, and will be committed to the values and ethos of the Catholic faith.
