ANNOUNCING - St Francis Catholic College, Westbrook

...building a place of wonder...

Toowoomba Catholic Schools are embarking on an exciting project, to create a contemporary education, sporting and cultural hub in the thriving community of Westbrook.  This new College will enable the families of Westbrook and surrounds to build on the already established connections within their neighbourhoods, and together with Toowoomba Catholic Schools, establish and grow a place in which every student flourishes.

Why Westbrook?

We know that this is a community that is family focussed and continues to attract more and more like minded families to become a part of something special. As this community grows, so too does the need for them to have the option to educate their children locally. A place that has facilities and opportunities that reflect their hopes and aspirations.

Being located on such a large parcel of land, with expansive views and easy pedestrian and vehicle access, the ability to deliver a College that will provide what parents want for their children and a place that will engage young people in learning through both natural and built environments is possible.  A place of wonder - that will have the community at its heart!

Why plan a K-12 College?

Toowoomba Catholic Schools has bold ambitions, and knows that delivering a College that provides the full 13 years of education in one location is highly desirable to families.  With the already established neighbourhoods and future planned development in the area, we believe in this community and want to grow along with it.

Why the name St Francis Catholic College?

St Francis of Assisi is the patron Saint of ecology and had a deep connection with the Earth and its creatures. With the College being built in an area that is known for its natural flora and fauna this name will guide the planning of the College site, as well as encouraging staff and students to embrace their surroundings and learn within them.

Where is St Francis Catholic College going to be located?

The site for St Francis Catholic College is on the corner of Shoesmith Road and Boundary Street South.  Covering nearly 10 hectares of land, the College will include educational, cultural and sporting facilities that it is envisaged will become a hub for community use outside of school hours.

What are the next steps in the planning process?

Community consultation and feedback as a part of Toowoomba Catholic Schools' Ministerial Infrastructure Designation (MID) application will begin in April 2022.

What is a Ministerial Infrastructure Designation (MID)?

A Ministerial Infrastructure Design (MID) provides a planning approval pathway to a development approval under the Planning Act 2006. MIDs are assessed by the State Government and decided by the Planning Minister.  The MID approves a development envelope over the land, similar to a masterplan.

Our MID will cover the development of the K-12 College.
