Director's Message
Educating the heart, mind and spirit
This month sees the minds of many in our Catholic Education community turning to the annual NAPLAN tests.
This annual assessment, which focuses on the literacy and numeracy skills children need to progress through school and life, assists State and Federal Governments, education authorities, schools and teachers to determine if important educational milestones are being achieved.
Of course, we all hope our students show what they can do in NAPLAN tests and rejoice in their achievements.
However, we also need to bear in mind that while important, this assessment does not – and cannot – reflect the holistic approach to teaching and learning in our schools; our commitment to educate not only the mind but also the heart and spirit. And as the NAPLAN website makes clear, nor does it replace the extensive, ongoing assessments made by teachers about each student’s performance.

Teachers affect eternity; they can never tell, where their influence stops.

Psalm 127:3-5
Behold, children are a blessing from the Lord. The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like the arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them.
Our vision is to offer life-long Catholic Education so that each person may know and come to be identified more fully with the living Spirit of Christ. This Spirit, working through the faith community, calls all involved in Catholic education…. to act justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly with their God. (Micah 6:8)
