Student Protection Policy and Procedure 2012
As of 9 July 2012, the Education and Training Legislation and Amendment Act 2011 amends the mandatory reporting provisions in the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006 relating to the reporting of sexual abuse by school staff members.
In order to meet these legislative and regulatory obligations, the student protection policy and procedure manual has been reviewed and amended to reflect all changes.
In summary, the changes in the manual include:
-
Clarification of the revised mandatory reporting requirement around the obligation of staff members to report sexual abuse of a student by another person and the associated reporting procedure
-
All suspicions of sexual abuse of a student by any person are to be reported on the Category 1 Section 366 Mandatory Reporting form
-
References to “employee” have been replaced with reference to “staff member”
-
Minor revision of the Record of Interview Form regarding interviews conducted in schools by Queensland Police and Child Safety Services.
The updated Student Protection Policy and Procedure 2012 is now available electronically on this site and the Catholic Education Office - Diocese of Toowoomba Intranet page.
